What is SIDS

Posted by: babybreathingmonitor on: August 30, 2009

What is SIDS. SIDS stands for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and is the sudden death of an infant under one year of age. The causes of SIDS remains unexplained and even after a thorough case investigation, including performance of a complete autopsy, examination of the death scene, and review of the clinical history, no conclusions can be made (Willinger, et al., 1991). A baby breathing monitor can be one of a new parent’s most powerful tools against SIDS, or sudden infant death syndrome and will make a lound sound alarm to alert parents if their baby stops breathing.
